The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust is a specialist mental health trust with a focus on training and education alongside a full range of mental health services and psychological therapies for children and their families, young people and adults.
We are committed to improving mental health and emotional wellbeing, believing that high quality mental health services should be available for all who need them. We bring a distinctive contribution based on the importance we attach to social experience at all stages of people’s lives, and our focus on psychological and developmental approaches to the promotion of health and the prevention and treatment of mental ill health
We contribute to the pool of ideas through our own research and development, but are also committed to bringing together the best ideas of the time, old and new, from inside and out, together with the most gifted and able professionals in our fields of endeavour. We aim to share our ideas and practice through as many routes as possible.
As a Trust we aim constantly to be evolving in nature and form in relation to the environment in which we work, to ensure that our contribution remains relevant.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and proactive person to join our small CAMHS EIS team which is embedded within an adult EIS team in Camden.
The successful applicant will be employed by the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust and located and working within Camden and Islington NHS Trust in our community base near Camden Town Underground station.
Our team is comprised of one full time band 6 CAMHS Practitioner, one (0.8 WTE) band 7 Nurse and a (0.5 WTE) CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist. We offer an assertive outreach model to all young people in the borough of Camden presenting with a first episode psychosis between the ages of 14-18. Once accepted into our service we offer care and treatment for up to 3 years, meaning our caseload also includes many young adults.
The post will include working closely with existing team members and providing care coordination to young people on our caseload which will involve working flexibly to provide a responsive and holistic service. Our aim is to form excellent therapeutic relationships with young people and their families, carers and network and offer evidence based treatment in order to improve outcomes for young people with psychosis in Camden. In addition there are opportunities to participate in the adult EIS daytime duty rota, join in with systemic family therapy work and to deliver Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Behavioural Family Therapy, for those appropriately trained.
We are fully involved with local teaching and actively support local research projects. There are many excellent professional development opportunities for the successful candidate provided by both the Tavistock Clinic and Camden and Islington NHS Trust.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
