The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust is a specialist mental health trust with a focus on training and education alongside a full range of mental health services and psychological therapies for children and their families, young people and adults.

We are committed to improving mental health and emotional wellbeing, believing that high quality mental health services should be available for all who need them. We bring a distinctive contribution based on the importance we attach to social experience at all stages of people’s lives, and our focus on psychological and developmental approaches to the promotion of health and the prevention and treatment of mental ill health

We contribute to the pool of ideas through our own research and development, but are also committed to bringing together the best ideas of the time, old and new, from inside and out, together with the most gifted and able professionals in our fields of endeavour. We aim to share our ideas and practice through as many routes as possible.

As a Trust we aim constantly to be evolving in nature and form in relation to the environment in which we work, to ensure that our contribution remains relevant.

As a member of the Transformation directorate and operating across all functional teams making up the directorate, primarily Information and Communications Technology (“ICT”) but including collaborative working with IMT Service Management, Informatics, Estates & Facilities (“E&F”) as well as Information Governance & Security, the Senior Infrastructure Engineer and Architect will be responsible for the design, implementation and operation of ICT infrastructure services that are both adequately performing and resilient.  This infrastructure supports the operation of all Trust systems covering all our clinical, education and research activities.  The infrastructure includes, but is not limited to, on site network equipment, on site telecoms, on site physical and virtual servers, public and hybrid IaaS and PaaS provision as well as hosting provided by our application providers within their own public or private cloud architectures.  The post holder will provide architectural and operational guidance and oversight for all matters in the Trust related to infrastructure design, implementation and operational support.  Working in close liaison with the IMT Service Manager, the Informatics Manager and the ICT Manager, the post holder will ensure all infrastructure is provisioned to meet or surpass all relevant cyber security requirements.

The post holder will continually review all infrastructure related incidents and problems, seeking trends and opportunities for improvements.  They will be aware of industry trends and new developments and, where there would be notable benefit, will understand and propose how these may be implemented within the Trust.

The post holder will be a primary authority on the infrastructure configuration within the Trust and will be part of the change advisory board to review all proposed changes that have any infrastructure impact.  They will review and recommend response to all CareCERT Alert notifications.

The post holder will be integral to delivery of multiple projects within the Trust Transformation Strategy and its constituent Information Management and Technology (“IMT”), and E&F programmes.  In particular the post holder will lead on those projects moving the Trust towards its aspiration of a “public cloud first” infrastructure, with minimal system hosting within the Trust estate.

The post holder will deputise for the ICT Manager as required.
