The national i-THRIVE Programme aims to improve outcomes for children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing. We are working with CCGs, NHS Trusts, local authorities and voluntary sector organisations across the country to implement the THRIVE Framework for system change (Wolpert et al., 2019).

The THRIVE Framework was originally developed by a collaboration of authors from the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust and the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families in 2014. The THRIVE Framework is an integrated, person centred and needs led approach to delivering mental health services for children, young people and families which conceptualises need in five categories; Thriving, Getting Advice and Signposting, Getting Help, Getting More Help and Getting Risk Support. Emphasis is placed on the promotion of mental health and wellbeing and for children, young people and their families to be empowered to be actively involved in decisions about their care through shared decision making.

The i-THRIVE programme supports the implementation of the THRIVE Framework for system change, translating the principles of the THRIVE Framework into local models of care using an evidence based approach to implementation. A core element of the national programme is the i-THRIVE Community of Practice; a community of organisations and local areas that are using the i-THRIVE Approach to Implementation to implement the key principles of the THRIVE Framework. All learning from local sites is shared widely across the community. The i-THRIVE Community of Practice now includes over 70 local areas and covers over half (66.6%) of all children and young people in England. Sites are supported in their implementation through the i-THRIVE Academy, a set of learning and development modules created for cross-sector professionals that support children and young people’s mental health, which has more recently been transformed to be delivered as a E-learning.

The i-THRIVE Programme is delivered through a partnership between the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families, the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice and UCLPartners. The i-THRIVE Programme was selected as an NHS Innovation Accelerator in 2016 and is now endorsed in the NHS Long Term Plan.

This post offers an exciting opportunity for a qualified practitioner from across the i-THRIVE Partnership to combine their considerable experience in working with children, young people and their families with a significant training role supporting the objectives of the National i-THRIVE Programme Team to support sites across the country to implement the THRIVE Framework for system change.

We are looking for a dynamic and innovative trainer with a passion for working with cross-sector partners to support and promote children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing, and a proven track record of developing and delivering training programmes. The role will provide national training for systemwide professionals, support the delivery and development of the train the trainer approach to i-THRIVE by utilising the newly created E-learning modules, and continuing to ensure the growth of the training programme through utilising feedback and evidence based practice.
