As a member of the Estates and Facilities department, the Support Services Supervisor supervises both cleaning and maintenance services. The Support Services Supervisor ensures that Trust facilities are a clean, safe and hygienic environment.
The Support Services Supervisor has responsibility for the following:
- The practical organisation of the day to day cleaning and maintenance operation during their shift assigned;
- To identify the number of cleaning staff required to maintain a clean, safe, hygienic environment;
- To ensure that waste is managed appropriately and in accordance with regulations;
- To ensure that the maintenance service is provided appropriately to maintain a safe and high-quality environment; and
- To monitor stocks of all equipment and materials in order that orders can be placed on a timely basis and that work is delivered in a timely way and to the correct standard.
In achieving the above, the Support Services Supervisor will ensure they and their reporting team members at all times maintain compliance with the regulations of the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and that all activity is carried out in compliance with The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other relevant Trust policies and procedures.
The Support Services Supervisor will work a shift pattern to suit the service being provided.
The Support Services Supervisor will assign, monitor and oversee appropriate activities assigned to the Support Services Assistant(s) and Maintenance Technician(s), collecting and recording progress and completion.
The Support Services Supervisor will collate, interpret and retain an accurate record of cleaning and maintenance activities as required by the Head of Estates and Facilities Management.
The Support Services Supervisor may be required to themselves undertake cleaning and maintenance activities, within the bounds of their experience and qualification, to ensure the provision of a high-quality cleaning service to the Trust.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
